Author Guidelines

1. General Information

Medicomplementary Journal publishes original research articles and scholarly works in the fields of medicine, pharmacy, complementary and integrative health sciences. All manuscripts must be written entirely in English and prepared using the official journal template.

  • Article Processing Charge (APC): Free of charge (0 USD)

  • Submission System: Open Journal Systems (OJS)

  • Language: English only

2. Manuscript Length and Format

  • Maximum manuscript length: 6 pages, including tables and figures

  • Paper size: A4 (210 × 297 mm)

  • Layout: Single column, single-spaced, justified

  • Font: Times New Roman

    • Main text: 11 pt

    • Abstract, keywords, email: 10 pt

  • Margins:

    • Left: 30 mm

    • Top: 25 mm

    • Right: 25 mm

    • Bottom: 25 mm

  • Header and footer distance:

    • Header: 15 mm

    • Footer: 13 mm

  • First paragraph indentation: 10 mm

  • All foreign terms must be written in italic.

3. Manuscript Structure

Manuscripts must be organized in the following order:

  1. Title

  2. Author Names and Affiliations

  3. Abstract

  4. Keywords

  5. Introduction

  6. Methodology

  7. Results and Discussion

  8. Conclusion

  9. Acknowledgments (if any)

  10. List of Notations (if any)

  11. References

4. Title and Author Information

Title

  • Written in UPPERCASE, bold, 11 pt

  • Clear, concise, and representative of the content

Author Names

  • Written in bold, 11 pt

  • Full names only (no academic titles, no abbreviations)

  • Superscript numbers are used to indicate affiliations

  • Corresponding author marked with an asterisk (*)

Affiliations

  • Written in 11 pt

  • Include faculty, institution, and full address

  • Corresponding author email written in 10 pt

5. Abstract and Keywords

Abstract

  • Maximum 200 words

  • Written in italic, 10 pt

  • Must include:

    • Background

    • Research objectives

    • Methods

    • Data

    • Results

    • Conclusion

  • Margins:

    • Left: 40 mm

    • Right: 35 mm

  • Abstract language must be English

Keywords

  • Minimum 3, maximum 5

  • Written in italic, 10 pt

  • Arranged in alphabetical order

6. Headings and Subheadings

  • Main section titles

    • 11 pt, bold, UPPERCASE

    • Numbered and left-aligned

    • Example: HASIL DAN PEMBAHASAN

  • Subsections

    • 11 pt, bold

    • Capitalized at the beginning of each word

    • Numbered sequentially

  • No blank space between headings and the following text

  • One blank line between sections

7. Methodology and Equations

  • Methodology must clearly describe research design, data, instruments, and analysis

  • Equations:

    • Written in 11 pt

    • Numbered consecutively using Arabic numerals

    • Equation number placed at the right margin in parentheses

    • One blank line before and after each equation

8. Tables and Figures

Tables

  • Title placed above the table, left-aligned

  • Written in bold

  • Numbered sequentially

  • Tables centered on the page

  • Use three horizontal lines only

  • One blank line before and after tables

Figures

  • Centered on the page

  • Caption placed below the figure

  • Written in bold, centered

  • Numbered sequentially

  • One blank line between figure, caption, and text

Tables or figures taken from other sources must clearly cite the original source.

9. Citations and References

In-text Citations

  • Use Harvard citation style

  • Author(s) and year only

  • Examples:

    • (Hsu and Shen, 2005)

    • (Adachi et al., 1997)

    • Pasaribu (2005)

References

  • Minimum 15 references

  • Written using APA style

  • Arranged alphabetically

  • No numbering

  • Hanging indent 10 mm

  • No blank lines between entries

10. Ethical Considerations

  • Manuscripts must be original and not under review elsewhere

  • Plagiarism, data fabrication, and unethical practices are strictly prohibited

  • Authors must comply with the journal’s Publication Ethics, AI Disclosure Policy, Copyright Terms, and Licensing Policy

11. Submission Notes

  • Manuscripts not prepared according to this guideline will be returned for revision

  • Authors are strongly encouraged to use the official Medicomplementary Journal Template
